Tear bottles are symbolic gifts of love, joy, sorrow and remembrance. The captivating tear bottle tradition dates back nearly 3,000 years, when mourners were known to collect their tears in a lachrymatory and bury them with loved ones to express honor and devotion.
Today, lachrymatory tear bottles are given to show joy and delight upon the wedding of a friend or the birth of a new child. They are a unique way to convey love and admiration between a mother and daughter (representing the tears that have been shed between them!). Tear bottles are also a fitting sympathy gift to express sorrow and grief at the loss of a loved one. Tear bottles communicate feelings that few other gifts can.
We are pleased to offer a wide selection of heirloom-quality tear bottles made by Timeless Traditions, Inc. Several styles are available – the Victorian, Roma, and Contemporary styles – and are all made in the U.S.A and stand about 2" tall. Each bottle is shipped with an organza gift bag and a story card that explains the history and meaning of the tear bottle.
The newest tear bottle offering is “The Passion of The Christ Tear Bottle,” which may also be of special interest. It is a gift of comfort and hope and features a miniature crystal tablet on which the entire New Testament is inscribed in 24K gold. | The Verdigris Contemporary Tear Bottle The Verdigris Contemporary Tear Bottle™ is the newest tear bottle in the hand-made Contemporary line. This design is slightly more slender than the others and has a shape that is very similar to some of the tear bottles of ancient days. The beautiful green colored glass is melded with a reddish-brown glass at its base. The cap is a Burnt Red Tiger Eye cabochon stone with a hand-carved cork stopper.

| | | Victorian Tear Bottles Victorian design inspired the ornate style of these unique Tear Bottles. Intricate antiqued metal filigree wraps around the glass. The rich design is mirrored on the cap and includes beautiful flowers, leaves and vines. The original Timeless Traditions logo is stamped on the bottom. The Victorian bottles are available in five different finishes: antique copper, antique brass, antique pewter, antique gold, and antique silver. We recommend the filigree metal tray to display these keepsakes.

| | | Roma Tear Bottles The Roma line is based on ancient Roman designs--harking back to the origins of lachrymatory history. Each tear bottle is crowned with a blue Swarvoski™ crystal. The banded style, with its distinguished crown, is a classic design reminiscent of biblical times. Four finely decorated bands surround the beautiful piece. The basket style features a deep cobalt blue glass bottle cradled at its base by a basket of antiqued nickel silver or pewter filigree. We recommend the metal tray for display.

| | | Contemporary Tear Bottles These hand-blown "Contemporary Tear Bottles" are designed for those who love the meaningful tear bottle story, but who prefer a more "contemporary-looking" style. This fine selection is simply flame-worked glass, created individually by a talented glass artist here in the U.S. All are approximately 2" in height and feature colored splashes or swirls of glass. Some have a 24K gold luster band around the upper lip for embellishment. Natural cork acts as the stopper in each of these Contemporary style bottles, so tears may naturally evaporate over time. Caps feature a tiny corundum cabochon of either Blue Lapis, Orissa Garnet, or Amethyst; the selection depends on the color of the bottle. The Verdigris cap is simply a Burnt Tiger Eye stone.
Now available in 5 finishes – Red, Amethyst Swirl, Verdigris, Commemorative (Red/White/Blue), and Blue. They are sure to be a collector's item!
