Our keepsake charms are created using a process that combines modern scanning technology with the ancient art of lost wax casting. The process was developed thousands of years ago by Egyptian artists and sculptors to create extraordinary detail in copper, gold, and bronze works of art, and the basic technique is still used today. These personalized pet charms are especially meaningful during the healing process after the loss of a pet. Simply select your preferred piece of “Buddies” jewelry. When you place your order on-line with us, and we’ll send you a Pet Print Ink Kit which will allow you to take a paw or nose print of your 4-legged friend. Once the artisans have received your pet’s print, they will scan it and create a three-dimensional wax model that is then cast in solid 14k gold or sterling silver. After casting, your piece is polished to give it a lustrous finish. Diamonds or synthetic birthstones may be added (at the top of the charm where the charm is attached to a necklace chain). For an additional charge, you may order a necklace chain (18-inch in length with a high-quality lobster claw closure). A final step you may wish to take is to provide us with 2 lines of engraving text (up to 10 characters per line) that can be inscribed on the backside of your charm with a name, date, or message of your choice. (You will have a chance to provide us with the text when you receive your ink kit.) These keepsake jewelry charms are slightly smaller in size than a dime. After you submit your print, our design firm will produce your personalized keepsake jewelry piece and return it to you in 4 - 6 weeks.
